Weeell, basically, yeah, I finally got a new jolt of inspiration for a new short story. Thank goodness! It's been a while. It hit me in the car on the way to school, actually, isn't that nice?
Maybe I'll post scraps while I write it on here, or maybe I'll keep it a secret and just startle you all with the finished project someday. I haven't decided yet ;)
It's a futuristic story. Exciting, eh? You know how I like experimenting with different styles/genres. I'm also writing a 'fairytale' sort of story, which I plan to be a story entirely without dialogue. It's a challenge, but very fun, and as usual I have already finished the end and am struggling with the beginning. Grr.
Those of you whom I email . . . not my college account, but my home account . . . my sig . . . it's a few lines from that work-in-progress. I'll post it here when I finish.
Last random note: I bought a new ring a couple days ago. It's silver, slender, and shaped like a sleeping unicorn. So now I have that ring, my claddagh ring, and that awesome dragon-shaped ring (which broke last year and still needs repairing . . .). I'll show a picture ASAP.
Cheerio!

Literary Quote #1--The Last Unicorn
"--it's hard to give up being a hero, once you get used to it. Do you like the first poem?"
"It certainly has a lot of feeling," she said. "Can you really rhyme 'bloomed' and 'ruined'?"
"It needs a bit of smoothing out," Prince Lir admitted. "'Miracle''s the word I'm worried about."
"I was wondering about 'grackle' myself."
"No, the spelling. Is it one r and two ls, or the other way around?"
"One r anyway, I think," Molly said. "Schmendrick"--for the magician had just stooped through the doorway--"how many rs in 'miracle'?"
"Two," he answered wearily. "It has the same root as 'mirror'."
(Note: All images are from the cartoon adaptation of the book, which I also really like. . . book's better, I suppose, as is the nature of things . . . but the cartoon's great . . . I've liked it since I was four . . . I found these great pics on Photobucket.)

It's The Last Unicorn!
Hi all!
Again, I don't have much time. When I get a laptop I'll be able to blog much more effectively. At the moment, I don't feel I can do Sunday's hike justice, and therefore I won't try until I can upload pictures. I'll give you some facts though:
1. I saw a million geckos
2. I saw a mongoose
3. The rainforest was beautiful
4. It is HOT on top of Hawaiian mountains
5. I still have a bit of muscle fatigue . . .
Okay, so today I only have two afternoon classes, but I'm busy with homework for English, Philosophy, History, Economics, and Russian. Later I hope to continue cleaning the room I'm going to be staying in, and maybe I'll find time to go to the pool at the apartment complex where I'm staying.
I think I want to try snorkeling . . . Waikiki is seriously stunning. Wow.
Oh, yeah, the random post title. I meant to tell you all about 'The Last Unicorn', which I finished reading on Saturday, and how amazing it is. Lots of quotable phrases, which I will post here when I have the book with me. In the meantime, just go borrow it from the nearest library. It's good. Trust me. I mean, at one point Beagle writes that the unicorn when afraid 'shivered like running water' or something like that. Now that's an awesome image.

Aloha! (I made it . . .)
*cue cliche ukulele music*
Um, hello again, but this time from the beautiful state of Hawaii!
I don't have much time for a post, as I really should be using this computer to pay my tuition, and not update my blog--but I wanted to let all ye people know that I'm alive and well and actually really enjoying being here. I've even befriended a fellow Tolkien fan (one who wants to read the Silmarillion, no less!) already.
No pictures this time, I'm afraid; as I don't have my laptop yet, I can't load photographs. So you'll just have to imagine the scenery for now. Lots of skyscrapers with mirrored windows, green mountains crowned with thick clouds, adorable tropical birds that follow you around and skip around your feet.
And the humidity ain't all that bad yet :)
I wrote a five page log while on the plane trip, but I left it all at home. So I'll have to type that in some other time. Sorry about that.
I'm probably going hiking tomorrow to a waterfall. I'll take pictures, and hopefully will be able to show them eventually.
Anything else? Um . . . I tried some guava cake the other day, and it was amazing . . .

So it Begins
After much urging, and since I'm about to begin my college years, I've decided to start a blog to help keep friends and all my loved ones up-to-date on my doings. I expect this news won't surprise many, but will delight at least one (yes, Linden dear, I'm talking to you!). I hope to use this blog to share many of my writings, musings, anecdotes, and photographs with you, as well as artwork, recipes, favorite book quotes, and any other randomosities I can come up with.
All photography is mine, unless I say otherwise. The same goes for any writings/artworks which I may post here.
And now, to bed! I have a long plane flight tomorrow . . .
