Yes, I finally made the switch to Tumblr earlier this year and for the most part I'm enjoying myself a lot; for one thing it's allowed me to share my art a lot more freely since I feel less stressed about the quality there than I do on, say, deviantArt. Another good point is I've met a lot of crazy Silmarillion fans like myself, which is exciting because I only know two people outside of the internet who have even read the whole thing. If you follow/followed me here and are interested in still keeping in touch (I'd love to stay in contact!), you can find me at: abadpoetwithdreams.
I post and reblog a lot of Tolkien/Doctor Who/Supernatural/literature/Sherlock/and Irish dance stuff, mainly, as well as my original artwork and fanart, peppered with personal posts about my life outside of fandoms. Currently I'm in the middle of setting up a separate blog for my original works of fiction. I've also started posting a lot of Breaking Bad things lately, since I got hooked on the show after attending the San Diego Comic Con panel and marathoning all aired episodes to date in only two weeks. Now I have to wait for new episodes every Sunday like the rest of the world, and it's torture.
Anyway, basically from now on I will be much more active on Tumblr than I am here. I will try to check into this blog periodically, but, I mean--just look at that gap between my last post and this one. Ouch. I should move all my book reviews to my Tumblr blog . . . Hm. Something to think about, I guess. I am not going to abandon this blog entirely, but if you want to keep in regular contact with me, my new blog is the way to go.
Thank you to everyone who has followed me here for the past, what--five years? Six? I can't even remember. I made my first post on the eve of my leaving home to attend college for the first time, and now here I am writing as a new graduate. Yes, I graduated with a BA in English with highest honors, and am currently job hunting while taking a break from school to write and dance. I will be returning to the world of academia to get my Masters, possibly next year. Right now I'm considering pursuing a career in fairy tale and folklore studies, as that's what I spent the last two years of my college career writing an honors thesis on.
Anyway, the point is--thank you. It's amazing how much I've changed and how much I've grown since I first began this blog. As I continue moving forward I will be delighted if you choose to follow me to my new internet home, but if not, then I wish you the best as we part ways and I will still update here periodically, with my infrequent updates hopefully always providing you a smile. God bless!

So busy.
I don't really know what else to say. I'm kind of overwhelmed with school and dance and honors and things right now but I am still writing my creative projects as I can find the time to so hopefully I'll post more soon. Book reviews will have to wait until things are more settled I think; I've hardly had time to read any this year so far anyway. Let's see, I know I can recommend "No Country For Old Men" by Cormac McCarthy and "In the Night Garden" by Catherynne M Valente (the former for February and the latter for January). I can also tell you to avoid the novel "Shiver" like the plague.
Oh, wait! I know what more I can say! Happy Ash Wednesday!
. . . sort of inappropriate to say 'happy' Ash Wednesday I suppose but how else do you wish someone well at the beginning of Lent? Oh well, whatever. Have a blessed Lenten season; I'm looking forward to Easter already.

ack,

She Hath Returned
Yes, I am alive and well and back in Hawaii!
It was much more humid than I remembered when I first arrived, but over the past couple of days I've adjusted, and now it's okay again. Definitely warmer than it was back home, though.
It'll take time learning my new class schedule, and I'm certainly worried about my new professors, but it'll all be a good experience five years from now, so that's keeping me positive.
I also bought a new journal after accidentally leaving my first one at home . . . but that's okay, I had just about filled the pages of the other one anyway.
There were tears at the airport, but not as many as last semester, which was a relief, and when the plane was taking off, Tolkien's 'Walking Song' began playing on my iPod, which made me feel a lot better!
Anything else? Erm . . . They showed 'Eagle Eye' on the plane, which seemed like an okay film apart from the occasional bad language . . . The sort of action film where you need to zone out and not try to make things make sense, and then it's crazy fun. You know? I missed the beginning, and the ending seemed a bit rushed, but other than that, it wasn't a waste of time.
I nearly finished your story, Laura, but then I fell asleep. Whoops.
Hope you're all ready for another semester of college in Hawaii, because I know I'm not! ;)

Laptop!
Yess, precious, at last I have my own laptop computer, complete with webcam. I'm typing on it right now, and it's marvelous. Many of you probably know I've been waiting for it for months, so it's almost incredible to hold it in my hands at last!
Last night I was working feverishly on a short story until the wee hours of the morning--well, more like four A.M. I am very proud of it. Which is something, since my writing has been so dissatisfying to me as of late. And yes, I know I need to post the next part of 'Nighthawk'; it's completed, so I'll do that ASAP. Also, Andromanche, I have not yet finished your birthday gift. Yes, I'm horrible. I'm sorry. It's inching forward . . . I've been writing a lot of good beginnings and endings to stories, recently, but then the middles refuse to cooperate, and it's maddening.
Anyway, I was then roughly awakened by my frantic mother this morning after sleeping in and nearly missing my appointment with the doctor. Nothing like a couple of immunization shots to start the day off well, hm? Well, anyway, both my arms are now sore, but at least there's a few less diseases in this world to worry about.
And afterwards, of course, my father finally took me out to get my computer. Yay, I'm so excited! So you'll excuse me if I cut this post short so as to acquaint myself with my new computer, won't you?
(Linden, I'm currently debating about his name. After the Gawain debacle, I'm a little wary . . . 'Merlin' might be interesting, but if Nimue comes along, I'd be sunk. What do you think?)
Oh, and another thing: a belated Christmas gift for me arrived in the mail today. To be more specific: I am now a proud owner of one of the 'Tolkien Ensemble's CDs. Thanks, Mum and Dad!
PS-I will post a little about my Christmas soon, as well as a little surprise and a challenge for my reader friends, and a question or two about literary foods. All will be made clear.

The Oath of Feanor
Hello everyone, and yes, I am at home now, and it is all very lovely. Especially since my baby sister wasn't afraid of me like I was afraid she would be.
And an added bonus of being back at home is that I now have access to a scanner! So here at last is the picture I drew for Raven's Eye, as requested. Basically, he wanted me to draw the scene from The Silmarillion wherein Feanor and his sons make the terrible oath. So I obliged, and--here it is!
(Except it won't load onto my blog, unfortunately. So you'll have to follow this link to my DeviantArt, where I will post it for you guys.)
